| ABOUT
THE RIDE: This is a small loop trail on
the north side of Adams Gulch that wanders
through a beautiful aspen grove. This ride should
be done clockwise. The shade of the trees makes
it a perfect trail for hot summer days. In the
Fall, the colors of the foliage are spectacular.
Watch for other trail users; this is one of the
most popular routes in the valley. GETTING THERE:
Drive north from Ketchum on State Highway 75, one
and one-half miles from the stop light. You can
also ride your bike north on the bike path. Turn
left on Adams Gulch Road (look for the National
Forest Access sign). Cross the bridge over the
Wood River and turn right. Continue 300 yards and
turn left up Adams Gulch (look for the log arch
over the road). Drive or ride one-half mile and
look for the parking area one quarter mile past
the Sawtooth National Forest boundary sign.
THE RIDE: Ride
up the dirt road until you come to the second
stream crossing. One or both of these may be dry
during the summer months.
After the second crossing,
(where the road veers left) take the trail on the
right. It winds uphill for a short distance
through some willow trees and crosses a spring
that often makes the trail wet. Take the right
fork up a short uphill section, then turn right
again. You will be heading back down Adams Gulch
into the aspens.
In approximately one-half mile,
be prepared for a short steep downhill. After
passing the downhill section, the trail briefly
branches into a higher and lower trail that meet
again after a short distance. Take the lower
section if you want to stay in the trees and
follow the trail back to your car.
