The Dorworth ReportDick Dorworth

It was a beautiful Easter Sunday in Sun Valley, a perfect day to close out the ski season on Bald Mountain. Baldy was crowded with happy skiers enjoying warm temperatures, sunshine, blue sky, the full range of slush to ice spring snow conditions, an equal range of Easter costumes and as much socializing as skiing. The best skiing we found was Upper Greyhawk, the first half of Limelight, Upper Graduate and Round House Slope. Who knows why Plaza was groomed top-to-bottom for the first time this year on the last day of the season, but it was pretty good.

The Nordic trails from Cathedral Pines north are groomed and providing good skiing for at least a few more days. Phone 578-9754 to keep up with any grooming activity. There's plenty of skiing left in the backcountry and much of it is really good. Phone 622-8027 for some practical and wise tips on springtime backcountry skiing.

This parable from Nietzsche: "Not every end is the goal. The end of a melody is not its goal, and yet if a melody has not reached its end, it has not reached its goal."

This is the last Dorworth ski report of the 2008-09 ski season. Thanks to the Idaho Mountain Express, the Sun Valley/Ketchum Chamber & Visitors Bureau and, most important, you, the reader, for a fine season. May the next one be as good and may we all be here to enjoy it.
