The Dorworth ReportDick Dorworth

It was cold and clear and beautiful in Sun Valley today. Bald Mountain skiing continues to be excellent on both the groom and off. I wasn't there today but my point man on Baldy reports that yesterday's warmth followed by today's cold "tightened up" the groomed snow which is now firmer. The first hints of the crowds of February were evident on Baldy today, and far fewer skiers were in the bowls than yesterday.

Nordic skiing from Galena Lodge to Bellevue to Sun Valley is extensive, freshly groomed and will keep the best Nordic skier entertained for a lifetime. The backcountry snowpack has a moderate danger rating and the snow depth and stability increases the further north one goes. Good skiing is being reported from the backcountry, but the snowpack in general is still sitting on a weak, faceted layer and its stability is difficult to predict. CCC. Conservative choices, comrades.

This from Ringo Starr: "So this is America. They must be out of their minds."
